Do or Not to Do…
No sun bathing of the area to be imaged 5 days prior to
your exam.
Do Not use lotions, creams, powders, or makeup on the body
areas to be imaged on the day of the exam – prior
to the exam.
For upper body imaging, Do Not use deodorants or antiperspirants
on the day of the exam – prior to the exam.
Any necessary shaving should be done a minimum of 4 hours
prior to the exam.
NO physical therapy, TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve
Stimulation), EMS (Electronic Muscle Stimulation), ultrasound
treatment, acupuncture, Chiropractic, physical stimulation,
hot or cold pack use for 24 hours prior to the exam.
DO NOT exercise 4 hours prior to the exam.
Bathing/showering should be done a minimum of 1 full hour
prior to the exam.
With your physician’s approval, avoid use of pain
medications and vasoactive drugs the day of the exam –
prior to the exam.
For Breast Imaging, if you are nursing, please nurse your
child as far in advance of 1 full hour prior to the exam
as possible. No physical stimulation of the breasts within
24 hours prior to exam.
If you are suffering with a fever, please reschedule your
appointment for another day.
